new friends and communicating in Spanish with classes at the beach or in
parks since they are located within a few blocks from the school.

group or private, young teachers with more than 10-year-experience. Our
students will learn Spanish within a political, social and cultural
environment.
Spanish for
travellers
This course is designed for travelers of different ages and countries
who have little time to take regular or intensive Spanish classes and
need basic notions learning very practical words and phrases to
communicate during their trips inside Peru or around South America.
For example, this course includes lessons on how to order at a
restaurant, how to ask for directions, organizing trips and exchanging
money. It also includes lessons on idiosyncratic issues and basic
information about Lima and Peru.
This program has been designed for students with no or very little
Spanish knowledge. After completing this first level, the student will
be able to communicate using basic structure with a limited vocabulary
in different situations.
ACTIVE SPANISH
LESSONS
It is a combination between Spanish classes and the different adventure
activities and volunteer services (optional). The students will be able
to travel around Peru whilst improving their Spanish, making new friends
and communicating in Spanish. Teaching is based on South American
history, conversation, reading, writing, Peruvian cuisine (Peru is a
country with diverse species and race mixture and it has the greatest
cuisine diversity in the world), and Latin-American music (traditional
dances, students will learn the movements of Latin rhythms like salsa,
merengue, and ‘festejo’, a Latin-American black dance)
The experience you will get in our classes will be mainly based on Latin
culture lifestyle, besides this program’s academic aspect is 100%
experience and practice, which means our students learn by doing things
themselves.
WHY LEARN
SPANISH?
Spanish is considered the second most spoken language in the world. More
than 310 million people speak Spanish as their mother tongue, it is the
official language in 25 countries, it is one of the most important
languages in international political meetings, it is an official
language in the USA, UNESCO, U.N.O., GATT, ONUDI AND U.I.T.; there are
more than 18,429 publications in Spanish; 296 TV channels and 7,112
radio stations; there are more than 44 million people who speak Spanish
in the USA; it is also one of the most frequently used in business. Each
year, more than 4 million tourists visit Peru, the ability to speak
Spanish increases the chance to enjoy every thing our country has to
offer, the demand to learn Spanish has doubled in the last 10 years, and
in 15 years’ time there will be 500 million Spanish speakers in the
world and more than 800 million will be living in Latin America, which
means more than 10% of the world’s population.
Many masterpieces of world literature have been written in Spanish: Don
Quijote de La Mancha, La Celestina, La Casa de Bernarda Albe, Cien Años
de Soledad, etc., besides nearly 1000 words in Spanish have been
incorporated to other languages, such as French and English.
Host Family
Program and Guest House
The Host Family Program (living with a family) and GuestHouse (students
house living with Stop & Drop Lima tutors and employees) is a perfect
way to maximize your abilities in learning Spanish, providing the
opportunity to practice the language in a natural situation whilst
experiencing Latin American social and cultural life first hand.
Visa
If you travel to Lima to learn Spanish, you will be basically considered
as a tourist, therefore you will not need a student’s visa.
Tourist visas are given to many citizens from different countries upon
arriving in Peru. To make sure that is your case, you can contact the
Peruvian Embassy in your country of origin:
http://www.tyzo.com/planning/embassies.html
The tourist visa you will receive will allow you a 90-day stay inside
the country. Once it expires, you can extend it for a limited period
paying US$ 1 per day. Another option is to cross the border with
Ecuador, Bolivia, or Chile and upon returning, your passport will be
sealed for 90 days more.
